Eskom Limpopo Celebrates Electrification of Leboeng Village

Wednesday, 24 June 2026: Eskom Limpopo, in collaboration with Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality, has successfully electrified 1,500 households in Ward 26, Leboeng Village, through the installation of smart meters. The project was officially completed on Tuesday, 23 June 2026.
Speaking during the switch-on ceremony, Mayor Cllr Maila described the occasion as a proud milestone for the community. He highlighted that the project restores dignity to residents and significantly improves their quality of life. The Mayor also expressed appreciation to the community for safeguarding the infrastructure despite delays, noting that this demonstrated strong ownership and a shared commitment to development. He further extended gratitude to Eskom for making this important initiative possible.
This milestone reflects Eskom’s ongoing commitment to expanding access to electricity for millions of South Africans and underscores the impact of partnerships between local government and communities in driving sustainable development. The electrification of Leboeng Village addresses the critical need for safe and reliable electricity in rural communities that have experienced prolonged periods without access.
