Limpopo Provincial Commissioner orders investigation onto recent shooting incident where a man was gunned down in Mphephu

The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service (SAPS) in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has ordered an immediate and thorough investigation into the tragic shooting incident that occurred on Monday night, 04 March 2024, where a man was fatally gunned down in Tshituni Themaluvhilo Village in Mphephu, Vhembe District. The shocking incident took place at approximately 22:00. Police were summoned to the scene following reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they found a male victim with multiple gunshot wounds inside his vehicle. Despite the efforts of emergency medical personnel, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.Preliminary information revealed that the 37-year-old victim was alone inside the vehicle at the local car wash, when he was approached by two unknown armed suspects who shot him several times at point black. The assailants fled the scene on foot.Police have opened a case of murder. The motive behind the incident is still unknown.The Provincial Commissioner has expressed her shock in yet another senseless killing and has assured the public that the SAPS is committed to bringing those responsible to justice.”We are treating all these cases with the utmost seriousness. An extensive investigation has been launched, and we will not rest until we have uncovered the circumstances surrounding these heinous acts and apprehend those responsible,” said Commissioner Liutentenat General Hadebe.Police appeal to anyone who may have information about the incident to come forward and assist with the investigation.
