MDDA hosts three-day Elections Coverage Training at Boksburg

The Media development & Diversity Agency (MDDA) hosted a three-day Elections Coverage Training programme on 13-15 November 2023 for the community media projects in preparation for the 2024 National Elections Training at Birchwood Hotel in Boksburg, Gauteng.

Facilitated by media guru, Tim Modise, the workshop was attended by various representatives of community media houses based in Limpopo, Gauteng, Mpumalanga, Free State and North West.

Elections are a critical part of democracy, for the electorate to be fully informed of their rights when voting, the media (especially community media) must play its part in educating, informing, and entertaining the voters.

2024 marks the thirtieth (30th) anniversary of democracy in South Africa, and these elections are a perfect opportunity for the community media to help ensure that citizens can make their voices heard and hold the leaders to account.
