THULAMELA MAYOR HANDS OVER R11 MILLION WORTH SKIP LOADER TRUCKS AND COMPACTOR TRUCKS FOR WASTE MANAGEMENT
To promote cleanliness through waste management , the Mayor of Thulamela Local Municipality, Councillor Rambuda Athongozwidivha Sarah, handed over four skip loader trucks and two compactor trucks worth R11 million.
The Mayor was joined by the Executive Members of the Council, Municipal Manager Masala Makumule, Manager for waste Management Mbulungeni Madi and other key officials. The initiative is in line with the Municipality’s call for cleaner Thohoyandou and surroundings areas.
The skip loaders and compactor trucks will assist in the delivery of efficient waste management and improve waste removal services within the Municipality.
Speaking during the handover, the Mayor said: “This is just a step towards ensuring that the Municipality becomes free of illegal dumping, litter and other waste”.
She further made an appeal to municipal waste collectors to be responsible and ensure that the purchased trucks provide regular and consistent waste services.
The Mayor ordered the Portfolio Head Councillor Kwinda Cecilia to increase awareness and enforce compliance around waste management to ensure that there is a clean environment around town and public areas.
